Welcome to Junco Hill Academy

We are so excited to have you here in our new space.  This blog, formerly known as Magic School House, will be a space for the ENTIRE family to write about what is happening in our homeschool and in our lives.

Last spring the kids and I sat down and brainstormed names for our homeschool and decided to name it after one of our favorite winter friends, the dark eyed junco.  They visit our feeder all winter long and seemed like the perfect animal to name our homeschool after.  Our official name is Junco Hill Academy  and the newspaper that Z puts out three times per year to raise money for charity will be called the Junco Hill Press.

For those that don't know, our homeschool is an eclectic mix of Charlotte Mason, Interest led learning, Montessori, Unit Study, Waldorf, the Multiple Intelligences and what you might call "traditional school".  We take the best of all methods and mesh them together in a way that works for our own unique learning styles.  This coming school year Z will be in 3rd grade and C will be in K.  We are excited for a year long study of Biomes, Ancient History and the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

If you would like to have our blog posts go to directly to your email, please enter your email into the box below.

Thanks for stopping by this space and we hope you will check back often to read about what we have happening at Junco Hill.
